Romans never fought like that…they always fought in formation with their shields raised in front of them and moved forward with total protection including over their heads…learned from Spartan Greeks.
Also, they used the short sword for stabbing forward this means it would render ALL those bullets useless unless they fired at their feet.
The pushing forward would have eliminated the use of guns.

1. It is not taken into account that the machine guns have to be recharged
2. the Romans were not stupid, they would surely have used archers behind infantry lines
3. the ww2 soldiers were surrounded, they could not cover the entire perimeter efficiently … in short it would probably have been a massacre for the Romans but the lines of the ww2 soldiers were compromised by quantity …
